I went on a night out on Saturday, and met a friend of a friend for the first time.
He said ‘What do you do then?’
I knew from my friend he was clueless about technology, so replied, ‘web design‘, knowing if I said SEO it’d go over his head.
He then asked ‘Oh, so you work for Google then?’
Yet more proof people think Google IS the Internet… (which is probably one of many reasons why BING will fail)
Seth Godin (I think) said that a website is truly successful if it becomes a verb. Google, Twitter & eBay have achieved this. When one becomes a verb, it’s difficult to overtake it (though history has told us it can happen, I bet you don’t do your hoovering with a Hoover, do you?)
I vacuum with a Dyson! Hahaha
